Shield City Athlete Wins Full Ride to US College

In working with the Imole Foundation (www.imolefoundation.com), our nineteen year old soccer athlete Abu has been able to secure a fully-sponsored tuition scholarship to join the football team and study in the United States at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa!!  He is currently in the visa waiting process, but if everything goes smoothly he will be leaving in January to start his education.

Abu is the oldest of 7 siblings and has provided support to his family through his work of animal husbandry from his Shield City business grant. Abu’s small business raises goats and rams, where he sells their lambs every few months to generate funds for his family.

He will need some assistance in financially getting set up once he reaches Estherville next month (it is 16 degrees Fahrenheit in Estherville today...yikes!).  We would love to have some sponsors to help him as he gets started in America. Abu has never been in snow before! Once in Iowa, Abu will need a cellphone, winter jacket, winter shoes, socks, and other winter clothing like scarves, hats, mittens and wool sweaters to start college. Consider a small donation below, and let us know it is for our sweet Abu! (Shieldcityempowerment@gmail.com)
