How do we drink clean water each day?

Getting clean water regularly is always a problem in Nigeria. Water outages, broken pipes, and open sewage are constant hazards. Like many other businesses in Kano, we use a water tank system.

We have a well underground at the Shield City building...and an 18 gallon water tower! In the night, the electricity from the city comes on and our night guards plug in the pump which then takes the water up into the tank. We get a refill every night to have a new 18 gallons every morning.

The filled tank helps us to have water throughout the house and center for every day.  We use this limited supply for everything from showering, washing dishes, to drinking, etc. We are always conscious of how much water we are using, because if city electricity doesn't turn on for a few nights or the pump breaks, we can easily run out of water!
