Sadeeq’s family home burned down earlier this month, in a huge blaze that destroyed all of the family’s meager possessions. We are so thankful no one was hurt!  The family had all gone out to visit family members and someone called Sadeeq’s mother to let her know the house was on fire.  She returned to the house where they had lost everything, only to find a blackened shell for walls and empty rooms.

Shield stepped up financially to help the family afford clothes, dishes and food during this difficult time. Sadeeq’s sweet mother has taken this sweet 6-year-old to Shield City since 2021 for therapy for his cerebral palsy. He is a happy kid who wants to get into absolutely every single one of the toys.  All of us stay busy trying to keep Sadeeq engaged and on task each time he visits the center. Shield City will stay by the family’s side throughout this season. We love you Sadeeq! 💕💕💕💕💕💕

The good news is Shield City retains an emergency fund for all our families for crises like this house fire. Almost every month, Shield steps in on a case by case basis to help families with medication, life-or-death surgeries and unexpected disasters. Many of our mothers have little to no income, and are struggling to support seven to eight children, in addition to their special needs child.
