The word is spreading throughout Nigeria about Shield City! A mother brought in her 6-year-old son Muhammad to us last month and shared her family is moving to Kano specifically to come to Shield City. Muhammad is 6 years old, non-verbal and his behavior is hard to control. He threw things across the room and screamed for our initial assessment time with his mother. The city where they live does not have any options for special needs therapy and his mother is concerned about the continual decline of her son. She shared about his food aversions and the challenges that she has caring for him along with her three other young children. Our plan will focus on helping him calm himself and express his needs clearly. Even with a few weeks of sessions at Shield, so many of our children with autism make huge strides!! So we have so much hope for this little guy.
